As some of you know, I've debated this for quite a while. Last weekend, I scored a DEAL on a new leather one. I threw this post up in the form of a poll, so you can voice your opinions as well.

I really like the feel of the leather, as it's VERY comfortable for driving, and easier to grip. But the wood definitely has the vintage Shelby "look". Still undecided myself, but the wood is probably headed for Ebay... The leather is also a 14", while the wood is 15", and cuts down a little bit on thigh room.

definately leather. i'm always afraid that fro some reason i'll get in a wreck and hit my head on the wheel and have splinters in head for the rest of my life no really i like the fell of leather so much better than wood. if you are really that undecided, drive the car with leather for a while and then put the wood back on and see how you feel about them both then

You're really moving away from the clone theme aren't you. No doubt a fat leather wheel feels better. But it's a vintage Mustang. It's supposed to be cool, not comfy. The wood wheel looks way better than the leather wheel. Even though I'm sure it's high quality, it still reminds me of an Autozone Grant wheel you see on a jacked up purple coupe.

I MUST be getting OLD - comfy is "cooler" than "cool" anymore!

Keep'em Both!

Driving use the Leather . .

Showin' or Cruisin' use the Wood . .

Just my thoughts.

They both look GREAT!

That leather looks terrible, you should sell it to me for pennies on the dollar.

(I voted to go with the leather. Wood has a nice look, but the leather is purposeful)

I voted keep both. In my case, I've got a vintage looking wood rimmed Nardi wheel, and I also have a black Momo leather wheel that I use on my daily driver. They both have the same 6 bolt pattern, so it's really easy to put the leather wheel on (more comfortable) for long distances in the stang and the wood one when looks matter. The Nardi looks best in my car with the palomino interior, but I think they both look nice in your car. I don't agree with it having to look vintage. If that's the case, then you should get rid of your seats, white gauges and wheels. IOW, with the mods you have on the car, the leather wheel looks fine to me, but the wood one maybe just a little better.

I use two wheels as well. I use a wood one for driving straight, and when a corner approaches I swap to the leather one so my hands don't hurt turning.....

Lman, didn't your momma warn you about gripping wood while you're driving!

Both hands on the wheel - that's 10 & 2, not 6 & 12.... :nono:

I would stick with wood myself, but if you choose to go leather I need a nice wood wheel to use while I send my deluxe out for refinishing....

How much?

With your leather seats (and rest of the mods to your car) the leather really looks better... IMHO... I'm not sure anyone would argue a wood wheel isn't a work of art and beauty ...

Howdy Mark, as you can see from my amassed number of posts, I'm a posting fool... As I've had so little to contribute to the ol'vmf, I've had to expand my territory to spread it wider and deeper as the opportunity arises!

I'd say go with leather. Tom is right, it fits the interior and the other things you've done to it. I also like the Cobra logo in the leather.

I'm not feeling the leather wheel... wood looks better from the pic comparison. You gotta get that station wagon speedo out of there though

Todays cars have so much comfort and are so easy to drive you fall asleep at the wheel.

The beauty of the classic mustang is it's traditional appearance and the looks and comments people give you because of its style

the wood wheel
the exhaust burble
the chrome brightwork
the timeless shape
the lack of plastic

i see new cars drive buy and have trouble determining the make of car....yet a 9 year old kids sees a classic stang cruise by and they yell out look at the mustang...something made 30 years beofre they were born.

You have a responsibility as a classic stang owner.....flick the leather and stick with the traditional..

Agreed, you need a '66 instrument-panel transplant STAT! Falcon gauges don't make the grade....
