My father purchased a 1969 Mach 1 with a 428 (don't know if it was a CJ), automatic with white interior in 1971. He sold it a few years ago due to his ex-wife's constant nagging about "that pile of #$*% sitting in the garage". I got to talking with him the other night about it and he mentioned that he had never seen another with the white interior (although I'm sure some existed).

It's not like the car would be worth alot now anyway as he blew the 428 (airplane fuel and a small town, long story ) and dropped in a 429.

Anyway, just wondering how rare of a car this actually was. There is a chance that we could track down the current owner of the car, and I'm wondering if it's even worth pursuing. As a side note, this car would need a frame up resto based upon it's last known condition. Sentimental value would be the primary driver of this pursuit.

Thanks!

Sean

Lots of 69 had white interior. But if my Dad once had a cool car like that, and I had a chance to track it down....I would.

Your Dad owned it....that makes it one of one.

I agree--rare or not, the Dad factor counts heavily. My Dad has a GTO that he sold when I was born because of no AC. (factory 6 pack, huge engine, the works.) We tried to track it down but the kid he sold it to totaled it in 1970, I believe.

If you can find your mach, go for it. (And, of course, you have the money to grab it.)

Personally, I like hearing the stories from owners on how this was their dad's car (or something similiar). Having a rare car is great also, but the people with some kind of history behind their cars really make the hobby (or obsession) interesting.

History----Ah, if these cars could only talk and tell us what they've seen. . . .
