How to Improve Cooling Syst. for 66 289?
Greetings,
I am trying to learn how to best improve my cooling system for my 66 289. I shopped around and I thought I would ask some peers what has worked for you. As you can imagine by my user name, I live in a very dry and hot part of the country. I currently have a stock radiator, water pump, thermostat and fan. Even at 3 o'clock in the morning, the car heats up within 30 minutes and is scary close to overheating on the freeway at 70 MPH.
Thank you advance,
Joe from San Diego, Ca.

Recently worked on a customer's 65 that is mostly used for parades. That's a lot like sitting in traffic with no airflow. Removed the 4 blade fan and installed a 6 blade along with a factory AC fan shroud. The replacement fan blade had more pitch, so required a shorter spacer and bolts. That alone increased the airflow and cooling, but went one step further and installed an electric fan on the front of the radiator, to push even more air through, with a thermostatic controller.
