Gone Baby Gone!!! 65 Fastback Stolen In L.a.
This is the hardest post i've ever had to write, my car was parked in a back alley that is brightly lit and on a major street. the car was locked the coil wire was out, I got back from hawaii and it was not there. I have had this car for 4 years and my heart is crushed. The police were informed and the insurance company will only give me half of the value of the car. Fellas and ladies i gotta tell you. I am crushed. Well he hunt is on for my next stang. I'd like to get a 67 fastback. I guess it's payback for all the hearts I stole. Here is a pic of the good ole' days..

I'm just a little confused. Don't take this the wrong way, I just don't understand.
Why, for the love of Carroll Shelby, would you, knowing and willingly ever, in the history of the planet, ever, leave something like that in a *Back Alley* period?
I mean, ****.
Anything other than the alley. Pay a storage center the monthly, hell, that's at most 100 bucks a month. Pay a friend to garage it. Anything.Find a local Highschool and let them do a school paper on it, leaving it in a shop. Find a local mustang club and ask the director there what your options are.
I'd put the wife and kids out in the alley before I'd ever put my Mustang there. ( ok, a little exageration there, but you get the picture. ) I just don't understand the thought process that went thru your mind when you said - Ok, here ya go, you'll be fine here in this alley, I'll pull the wire, surely you'll be ok.

That really sucks! I know that's the ultimate understatement..but ****.
Why can't people just keep their hands to themselves...or I don't know, if you like something that much, go put the effort out and build/buy one of your own...
a-holes.

I can't add any words of sympathy that have not already been posted here. I would make some calls to as many body shops as you can. If someone is doing work on a car like that, the word gets out to other shops also. Someone knows something. Unless that car is on its way overseas or south of the border, it does not disappear without gaining attention wherever it goes. That red interior may help in locating it. There is the possibility it will end up in Arizona or Nevada. Also, I would take a close look at who might have known that you would be away in Hawaii.

yes altough he has a right to ****ed at the thief i dont blame the thief for the insurance problem i have hagerty classic car insurance, that cost about 300 dollars a YEAR for a pre determined value of 25,000 on my vert, i had 1 stolen last year with a pre determined value of 15,000 i had the 15,000 dollar check in 30 days!

That does suck in deed and I feel bad for you but your precautions were almost begging for trouble I have to agree. Obviously your policy was not an agreed value one and a company like hagerty while I concur from hands on experience is excellent when making any claim they demand the car be locked up on sight for a good reason. A coil wire maybe slows them down by half an hour at best and most classic thieves have one with them for just that reason. These cars are just way too easy to steal at any measure shy of a hidden cut off switch and lojack or at the least a lojack sticker on the windshield to make them think twice. If you get it back or find a new 67' please learn from this experience so you don't get victimized again.
