Fuel Pump problem?

Fuel Pump problem?
My 1965 started up fine, but then died. After a few more try's...starting and dying, it wouldn't even start up/turn over. I fed gas into the carb and it started up again, but died again. The tank is half full. Does this sound like the fuel pump is failing??

Thanks all for the input... The fuel is old...that's true. I was wondering that too, but wouldnt it run poorly rather than simply die? I will replace with new gas and a fuel pump as well. Hope it works! Thanks again!

before you go thru the trouble of putting a new fuel pump on check it .. take the fuel line loose from the carb and point it into a large container of some kind and spin the engine over a bit .. see if it pumps ,, make sure to unhook the ignition coil .. dont want a spark with fuel running about .. and actually smell of the gas .. if it smells like gas it most likely is ok .. if not it`s def old ...
