Fuel octane?

Fuel octane?
I have a 1966 Mustang GT "A" code. I was wondering what fuel grade others are using. I use 87 octane. Any thoughts?

if it works well with 87 there`s no reason to go higher

It could knock, but if it doesn't then it should be OK?
