Hi, Imagine that you have a 65 fastback that is in pretty rough shape. like....$900 rough. Would you restore it to stock, or would you turn it into a GT350 clone. I really cant make up my mind. I dont even know which would be cheaper!! Time is not an issue, but money is. I'm willing to spend a long time to get it right. What would you do?

if it's that rough i wouldm't bother going back stock unless it's a gt or hipo car. otherwise you will probably enjoy a shebly clone or any form of restomod better than if you put a base or not so rare car back to stock. my only advice is that if you do restomod it don't take it to the extreme that it couldn't easily or at least feasibly be returned to stock in the future, in other words don't chop, cut, cut corners, etc. that woudl be too difficult to put stock again, for instance no mustang II front-ends

NO LMAN!!! :P

In all seriousness i think you should go Shelby not back to stock. When I see an old restored Mustang I think ok I've seen this a hundred times, but how many times do you see a Shelby? Clone or not? Ive seen one true Shelby in person up close. I've seen others just not verified as true Shelby's but there aren't many up in SJ.

Fake Snakes are cool as long as you never really try to pass it off as the real deal. I knew a Fake Snake owner and he was genuinely offended if you ever mentioned its true origins. He went so far as to buy the original Shelby badging and serial numbers from a wrecked Shelby (big bucks) to put his car where he wanted it. I'm not getting in to the legal aspects of this move. The car was very nice but it wasn't a real Shelby. :notnice:
