Sweet merciful god in heaven...
Pete, excellent suggestion-but...I know the car in my avatar is the Eleanor model because... I chose it. I was saying I was impressed if they could tell the difference btwn the scoops just from the avatar pic, not whether or not it was an Eleanor. I'm not changing my avatar until I get my '05 (hopefully not too long) I've googled for GT500s before, and the reason I have the Eleanor is that its my fav. color silver and I've yet to find any good pics of a real one that color and at that angle- as I said b4, if u find any, send them to me and I'll use them as my avatar. For now however, I don't care! I'd be happy to own ANY 1967 mustang, and if I got an Eleanor probably all I'd do would be to re-restore it to original GT500 specs (although, after closer consideration, I think I like the new scoops better, too)

Personally I like Chocolate way better than vanilla, in fact I can't imagine why anyone would ever even choose to eat vanilla when chocolate is available, that's just silly.

BTW, any of you guys got a nice pic of a scoop of vanilla with a cherry on top for my avatar? I've tried to find some of chocolate but none of them have cherry's so I figure it's better to at least show vanilla (which I don't like so much) with a cherry than to show chocolate without one.

"...an Eleanor clone..."

Oxymoron or just redundancy?
You make the call!

the actual Eleanors aren't that bad - the yellow ebay one that had rust painted over and a crappy mod kit done was a waste of a car

I really don't have a problem with the Eleanor clones or cars....it's the owners car and they can do as they please....

However, what I DO have a problem with is A) Including them in the shelby registry as if they are real shelbys...they are NOT and never will be... B) the hype resulting in stupid figures and false values for these cars...NO WAY should a rebuilt Mustang into an Eleanor be worth more than a real Shelby that has stood the test of time and has an actualy reputation. But a fool and his money are soon parted....just like that Yellow Pile that some moron bought on Ebay all because someone put the Eleanor parts on a car that isn't even road worthy.

I personally don't like anything about the Eleanor car other than the color and wheels....sure it looked great in the movie and the chase scenes were good and I enjoyed watching a Mustang on the big screen...but I won't do that to my own car.

Can Eleanor kit fit on regular 67/68 Mustang (not Shelby)? Without changing anything on 67/68 Mustang Fastback

The ones produced by the company that paid Shelby to get his blessing...the GT500E as they call it are the ones they are including in the registry...not clones done by individuals. Regardless, they aren't shelbys....they were not Shelby Mustangs in 1967 and just because Shelby told these guys they could build them under his name doesn't make them Shelbys today.

But....Those who run SAAC are driven by money...it's a business for them so if they see a way to make a dime, they will.... I guess they'll include a pinto in the Shelby Registry if Shelby signed the dash and said it was OK sometime in the past 40 years and they could profit from it

the first rule of cloning is NEVER pass it of to be an actial shelby when its not
the second rule is dont make a cosmetic clone in other words dont put gt500 stipes if it only has a 302 i put gt 500 stripes on my 67 fastback eleanor "clone" because i HAVE a 428 big block and a 4sp to back it up
both me and gt350clone abide by theese rules and so should everyone else who makes a clone

ps i built my eleanor clone to be 100% movie correct so it is in my opion an eleanor and has everything seen in the movie and is not just a 67 fastback with grey paint and black stripes again i built this car my self for my self and not to make a quick buck like the ones on ebay

heres some pics of my car so u decide wheather u think it is an eleanor or not

My opinion is that the Eleanor is to Mustang as TYPE-R is to ricers. People get a 67 fastback put a body kit. NOS, then paint it grey with black stripes and call it a Shelby GT500.

I am in no way knocking you 1967eleanor or resto-modders at all here. It looks like you did some nice work to your car and was very detailed in your resto. There was always a place in my heart in doing the Knight rider car so I see where your coming from. I personally rather see just a GT500 clone then the Eleanor copy (everyone and their mother is doing). There has even been guys doing 65 and 66 fastbacks this way. STOP THE INSANITY!!!

To each their own. Nice cars guys
