He says he is not trying to hide anything but why would you put fresh paint on a car when there is "rust repair that needs to be done"????

WHY? WHY, GOD, WHY? Too many Eleanors out there to begin with, we don't need crappy versions out there. Why do ppl have to do this to cars? Am I the only one that thinks the original GT500 is waaaaaay better looking than even the nicest Eleanor mod? Painting over the rust, not lining up pieces, choosing the easy sell way out instead of restoring a beautiful '67 fastback or even making a real GT 500 or 350 clone?

so why do you have an eleanor pic for an avatar?
I agree that original GT500s look better than eleanors

Have u seen a good side pic of the '67 GT500 that shows off the side scoops (that I so desperately want to find accurate replicas of for the '05)? let me know, and if its silver/grey, you'll have found my new avatar! (P.S. - way to call me on it!) I don't notice any difference btwn the side scoops of Eleanor and the original - are there any?

Actually yes, there is a difference. The sidescoops are (IMO) one of the few aspects of the Eleanor car that are better than the original. The original GT 500 scoops are more "bolted on" as opposed to the Eleanor scoops that are "bonded on".

Blake, Pete...the fact that you can tell me the differences btwn the two is good. Now, if u did that based on my small, angled pic of my avatar...bravo! I never noticed any difference, but I guess I've not looked too close at the Eleanors.
Ok- looked a little closer at some of brad's pics - I can tell the quarter scoops are different, but the ash tray scoops look pretty darn close. at any rate, I think they both look good

i love the bolted on look that the original shelbys had... i really dont dig the eleanor copies that much. it is a nice car, but i would much rather bust 100 thou on the original than on a replica.
Even if i did have a fastback and the money to make it into an eleanor, i would stay away from that road and try to keep it as close to the original as possible... whether shelby, fastback, or coupe.

to each his own

It's kinda hard to miss those big ol' tacky Eleanor side pipes - no matter how small the picture is. I'd suggest you get a few Mustang magazines and educate yourself on the differences. They're actually night and day. And if you're after a 3/4 view of a '67 Shelby (for your avatar) - how about a Google image search? You'll turn up more than you can choose from.
