Dual curcuit conversion on 66 6cyl coupe

I have a 66 that I'm wanting to convert from single to dual circuit, I'm planning keeping drums brakes, I saw this kit and was wondering if anyone had used it or if most people just bought the parts at a local parts store, and if so does anyone have a list of parts and pieces needed to do so. The kit I found looks pretty complete and seems pretty reasonable.

I had one before I switched to power front discs. After I got the kit, I realized it was just a '67 master cylinder, but the pre-bent lines they provide make it definitely worthwhile. I don't think you'll see a difference in braking performance, but I did it for safety concerns. It's a good intermediate step before switching to discs when funds allow. I have a 6 cyl that had small drums to begin with. There is no comparison when you switch to discs. Discs don't pull in a different direction every time the weather changes!

That's pretty much what I was planning on as well, I've changed several early vws from single to dual for safety and to discs as well. Did you stay with four lugs or convert yours over to five? Thanks for the reply

I am staying 4 lug, just to be different. Right now I am using the Styled Steel Wheel hubcaps. They fool a lot if people! I may get some wheels at some point, but I would rather get some widened steel wheels and occasionally swap hubcaps to change up my look on a budget.

I finished this about a week ago, it took a little longer than it had to but I ended doing more than I to and more than I planned on.
Here's what the kit came with:

This becomes your new rear line

This coupling ties the new rear to the original rear

This plug blocks off where the original rear brake line came out of the distribution block

This becomes the new front brake line, the only real issue I had was my original had 1/4" hole in the distribution block and the replacement was 3/16", where I had to add a bushing it affected the fit of the brake line.

I originally hoped to replace a bad hose bleed the brakes and drive it some. After replacing a bad hose and bleeding I could tell they weren't right. So I started upgrading to the dual and right away I found one of my issues.

My old MC was leaking around the push rod

The kit I bought required using the original push rod, I basically had to clamp it in my vise and drive it out using a hammer and a punch ran though the hole in the rod.

I then installed the rod into my replacement MC

This was the easy part of the job, I could have stopped here installed the lines that came with the kit, and added DOT3 fluid, and bled the brakes and been done. But instead I replaced all the hoses, wheel cylinders, half the metal lines due to not being able to take them lose, and cleaned out the system and replaced the fluid with DOT5

I used this in other cars I've redone the brakes on and really like it. Overall the brakes work well but I do see discs in this cars future especially considering it my wife's car.

Nice work,
I did a very similar upgrade on my 66 coupe but mine has the front valve and front to rear balance adjustment. Yiu can see it all on my blog.
