Converting 66 hood into true ram air

Have a 1966 Fiberglass shelby style hood on my mustang and am trying to figure out the best way to make this more functional than just dumping air into the engine bay. To work more like a shaker scoop.

Is there a system out there already for this?

I was thinking of some sort of seal system maybe using part of the shaker kit just removing the scoop. Any ideas?

I did find this hood from a 1970s mustang wish has built in seal that sits tight to the cleaner. This is basicly what i am looking for for the 1966 hood. Any ideas?

those hoods look to good to cut up .. if you need/want a ram air effect go with something mounted in the grill or perhaps front air dam .. i`ll try to find a picture of what i speak ...

No, what you do is have a turkey pan made with a seal on the edge so it pushes up on the hood the hood. If you need better details let me know. I have pics, I'll get them up soon, it's dying error right now. But yea if you have the gt350 hood don't cut it up, it's easy to make it work

Yeah i don't plan to cut the hood at all... I was thinking of some sort of rubber seal attached to the top of the aircleaner that would push up against the 66 hood... into this: much like the way the shaker hood attaches to the air cleaner.

Then there is the system like the 70s hood that has the plenum attached to the hood and fits snug against the cleaner which i like as well.

What you do is have a flat piece of aluminum that will be bigger than the opening in the hood, then you put foam or rubber seal all around the circumference of the aluminum pan. That will seal it to the hood so no air escapes. Then you can can a plenum with a screen or a small air cleaner that will fit in the air between the pan and hood. I'll send you a pic if you post a number or email, it's much like a 65 Shelby R setup

I guess I'm unsure why you can post them with in the thread for all to see that's the great thing about forums. Others may have similar questions one day and can search the forum to get all the answers just by browsing the thread not having to email someone.

The idea sounds very intriguing though. I'm interested in how it actually looks. LOOKS are often just as important as functionality with these cars...

No big deal. If I get some time to hop on my computer maybe I'll try uploading it. And I wasn't planning on spamming your email or number haha, just a mustang buddy trying to help another brother. It wouldve been the same as if you have something for sale and had your info on it. But I know everyone has their own comfort area and I can respect it. Goodluck with it for now. If I get a chance to and remember I'll give the upload a shot
