Conversion

I have a 6 cylinder 65. I am looking to maybe upgrade to a v8 in the future and would like to start the conversion a little bit at a time. My question is if I start converting the front end and rear and driveshaft over to V8 parts can I use all those parts with the 6 cylinder still in the car?

Yes, my grandfather has a 66 with V8 suspension parts, steering parts, transmission, driveshaft, and rear end. He also has 2005+ V6 mustang wheels on it. He recently swapped out the 200 I6 for a 250 I6.

Anyone know a good place to get the v8 suspension and drive train parts?

I did mine using the suspension from Mustang's Plus in Stockton, Ca. It was easy and handles the 351c weight and power that I have now. Strongly recommended.

Do you know roughly how much it cost you?

Its been tears now, but I believe it was in the ball park of $700 to $800. But out of all the modifications I've done, I would say that it's single handily the best night/day improvement.

You will modernize your stands handling and will not have to worry about for decades.

A TCI suspension is the way im going. Totally worth it and you'll have no worries on putting in any size drive train. Check out my build, I'm actually in the middle of installing one now...

Agree TCI is top notch. Really any newer suspension front and rear will work. If you just dropping in a 289 or 302 a good coil over in the front with a three link in the back will work fine. Disc brake swap out in the front, PS or Rack steering ... She ride and handle like a dream. Anything bigger then 289/302 and you'll need to tie the front and rear together ... Depends on how hard you want to run her. 351c or 351w are some pretty bad boys in an early model pony, but they are hard on the unit.
