California smog system
#1
I have a 1967, 289 2v original California black plate Stang. The smog system was removed prior to me getting the car leaving a hole in the passenger side head. After getting it home i discovered the hole was plugged up with a nut, bolt, washer and some sort of sealant. Is there areal way to cap this hole? The method that was used leaked  Any help out there? Thanks, new Mustang owner Keven

use a brass pipe fitting, to plug it up, you can get them at any big hardware store in a range of sizes, it is brass and has a square hole in the top to put like a 3/8 ratchet in. good luck man

Is this the hole at the END of the heads, or the holes above each exhaust port?
If it's original (early CA heads), there are holes / plug above each exhaust port. If it's legal to remove the smog system in YOUR state, you can purchase the plugs from your local Ford dealer (Part # C6AZ 6052 A), or from Mustangs Plus (part #00066).
If you're just looking for the end plug, it's Ford part # F4ZZ-6E086-A. There's one of those at each end of the later model heads (4 total per engine). That is a 5/8-11 thread if you just need a temporary plug....
