c4 valve body and kickdown lever questions

When reinstalling the valve body, the shift lever contacts a pole/valve the moves with the shift mechanism. Does the shift pole go behind this pole/valve, or in the first groove of it? I put it in the first groove of it because it only seems to move that way. But i don't know if i did it right or what.

Also, the kickdown lever is supposed to contact a spring pole thing. I THINK i put it in place but there is no way to tell because i cant see it. There is a pole that connects to the kickdown lever and goes to a threaded part outside of the transmission. Is this threaded part supposed to be able to turn freely or should it be firm in place? Mine is firm in place

Thanks

sounds like you have the shift lever part correct but not the kickdown lever .. with the kickdown lever in the right place it will spring back when you move it ...

thanks. and also i am having trouble adjusting my bands. there is a stopper on one of the band screws and wont allow the lock nut to go past it. so if i turn it out like 2 or 3 turns or w/e after hand tightening it, there is no way to get the lock nut tight cuz the stopper is in the way. i just hand tightened both sides and put the lock nuts on. Is this ok? is it going to work still?

yes you can move them a little .. they must have some slack to allow the piston to clamp them and allow other drums to work or you`d be stuck in one gear all the time .. but we are going beyond my memory now ..

it should have about 1 inch of free play then a half inch of springback .. it should not be locked in place ..
