c4 transmission rebuild questions

Ive got a c4 tranny lying around that im gonna rebuild. Ive got a haynes manual for it. Is this the best manual i can get? Or are there better ones available?

Also what position should i lay the transmission out on the table. On its side so i have access to the pan? or flat on its pan?

dont do it !!!! .. that is unless you`ve done it many times before .. there are several speciality tools required to do a rebuild .. you will need to lay it in every position imaginable .. and when you do flip it around small check ***** and valves will fall out from every possible spot where you will not know how to put them back ..bit if you just want something to tinker with have fun ....

Do c4 transmissions have anything inside of them that looks like a small ball bearing out of a roll cart? Working on the valve body and I found that on the floor next to my head under the car. I did have a rotisserie for a car pop a couple bearings in its wheels a short while ago, so it could be that. Not to thread jack or anything, it just pertains to the conversation.

how should i postition the transmission to pull the valve body, as to not lose any of the check ***** or valves? when is it safe to turn the transmission after installing the valve body? is there something that locks them in?
