bout to tear down my 68 & need some tips
Hey guys. I'm about to start tearing down my 68 fastback so it can be soda/media blasted and painted. The car is in good running condition at this time. I have a buddy that is going to help me pull the motor and tranny. Other than that where do I start? Is there any rule of thumb here? Do you start with the interior? I've never done this. All I know is that I'm going to catalog all of the parts. I'm just not sure what parts to start with.
Any other tips or suggestions are welcome. Thanks Guys.

Take LOTS of pictures of everything. Then whenever your about to take something off take more pics. From all angles. Believe me, this will help you hugely when it come to putting it back together.
- Get a shop manual. I got mine off of Ebay on CD. They come in very handy.
- Don't take any parts off that you plan to replace with new parts until you get the new parts. This is mostly for the small bits, not the hood/fenders etc. This way when you get the new parts you can make sure they are the correct part or for the proper side.
- Did I mention to take pictures ?

- Try not to cut anything that shouldn't be cut !!! (wires especially) When I did mine I cut the rear panel off before I had the new part....Guess what, I cut it too short and had to make up pieces...Its a real ****-off....
- Be prepared for your project to take longer and cost more that you think. The old rule of thumb is, 3X longer and 3X costlier. (I'm here to tell ya it's true
) - Pictures !!!!

- Keep all your bolts/fasteners in labeled cans. Even if you plan on replacing them. Keep them all !!!

quart ziplock bags and a sharplie to label all nuts and bolts. also keep all parts untill the new ones come in and are installed. it helps when trying to put them back on.
The more bags the better, nothing worse than putting the wrong bolt in the wrong place and having to tear it back down to replace it.
