Only Chevy guys try to measure things as "big" or small". :nono: Big & smallblock are Chevy terms, not Ford.
A 351 is a 351, either in Windsor, Cleveland, or "M" form.

exactly ford has windsor family (221,255,260,289,302,351,) 335 family (351c,351m,400) fe family (i won't list them all but, 352,360,390,410,427,428) and 385 (429,460 including boss 429)

I was just wondering, is a 351 considered a small block or big block?

oh and to answer your question all 351's are typically considered small blocks, although a lot of people call them mid blocks and the 351m is an animal all it's own, it has "small block" bore spacing and engine mounts, tall deck like a 400 or a "big block" and 385 (big block) series transmission bellhousing pattern. the 400 is generally exactly like the 351 m except it has one other "quirk" that most people are unaware of, some of the very early passenger car blocks actually had a "small block" bellhousing pattern and they are very rare to find today. but since the the crank is interchangeable between a 351m and a 400 you could theoretically have a frankenstein 351m that someone is trying to pass off as a 351c. bet you're really confused now huh?

oh yeah, one more thing that will even confuse some of the experts on here, the fe series 352 and all of the 351's actually share the same bore/stroke and have the same number of cubic inches which is like 351.87 or something like that. in normal situations the manufacturer will round up to the next whole number. in the case of the 351w, ford already had the 352 so they rounded down to the next whole number and got the 351, which in turn created even more confusion when the came out with the 351c and later the 351m. now if you aren't completely and utterly confused by now, i must not have done my job correctly.
