Barrett Jackson Car Search
Just watched an episode of this show on Speed TV tonight - it'll probably air again several times this week. In the show, Craig "shows us"
how to identify a correct K-code 65 GT convertible.....
Only 1 problem. It may be a K-code, but it was NOT a GT, nor a Pony Interior car, as they showed/claimed!!!
Why? The VIN was 5R08K155216. The R establishes that it was a San Jose car, and the consecutive # of 155216 would have had a schedule date around the first week of November 1964. The GT package and Interior Decor Group were introduced in April 1965 to coincide with the 1st anniversary. Production of those options didn't begin until ~ Feb 1, 1965, when the unit #'s were at 180000+.
This car was almost 3 months too early to be a GT.... :nono:
