Another McQueen Stang Shows Up on eBay...
1971 MUSTANG MACH 1 429 SJC DRAG-PACK EX-STEVE MCQUEEN
Finished in stunning Dark Blue Metallic with beautiful original Blue knitted Sports Group bucket seats. This beautiful motorcar was previously owned by the renowned actor Steve McQueen and it was in his personal collection. In 1975, while in California, he purchased this car along with 6 others. Later, the car was bought by a collector who kept it under cover and garaged until we purchased it from a prominent auction company. This spectacular motorcar has only 41,000 actual miles and is among one of the most original, authentic examples of a 429 Super Cobra Jet you will find anywhere. It comes with many desired options and is finished in one of the most rare and desired color combinations for this model. We are proud to offer this spectacular motorcar to the most astute collector, investor or enthusiast who appreciates and understands this investment potential of this great marquee. Bid with confidence - this just might be one of the best finds on eBay!
The documentation on the history of this car consists of a cancelled check by Steve McQueen when purchasing this car along with 6 others and a letter from the auction where it was purchased.

Comes with the original cancelled check from McQueen (back when Ali McGraw’s name was still on the account!) >>

What a piece of history...note how much the value of it went up between ‘71 and ‘75...even before McQueen bought it). No bids so far. They’re asking $89K. If I had major lottery winnings, I’d be all over this.

I know, that caught my eye, too - but it seems to be what it is. Compare that to the original sticker price ($4857.00) and that's quite an appreciation for four years! I had no idea the 1971 Mach 1 429 SJC Drag-Pack edition had appreciated so much back then in only 48 months...notwithstanding the McQueen connection.
Anybody else here more knowledgeable that can chime in and enlighten us?
I would so love to buy this car. Ah well...

Maybe that check was for all 7 cars that he bought. That might make more sense.
Note the last line of the initial quote.

I agree 32k was like what 300k is now.
