Are all 1969 390's GTs?
Good morning, In have a question that I can not find the answer to and I am hoping someone here will be able to answer it.
I have a 1969 Mach One 390, S-code with a 4 speed shifter that I bought in 1995. I am trying to figure out if all 390s were GT's or were they both Machs Sportroofs and GTs. No one at the parts places we deal with can tell us the answer. My Marti report does not state anywhere that it is a GT. What makes it a GT? Can someone shed some light on this discussion and solve my problem??? Thank you in advance for your time!!

i`m certain there were non GT 390 stangs made .. iv`e seen a photo of a 428 sportsroof that was`nt a CJ or a GT .. if yours is somewhat original it should have GT badges on the gas cap and wheel caps ..

I am the third owner of the car and the second one raced it, so the gas cap and wheel caps could have been replaced with "generic" parts. The only thing that makes me think that it is a GT is the following supplied from my Marti report:
thanks for your response!
- GT Handling Suspension Stiffer front and rear springs Larger front and rear shock absorbers Larger diameter front stabilizer
- Dual exhausts (with chrome "quad" outlets on 4V engines)
- Racing stripes
- E70-14 wide oval belted tires
- Argent Styled Steel wheels with chrome trim rings
- Pin-type hood-lock latches
- Non-functional hood scoop with integral turn signal indicators
thanks for your response!

Here's a post I copied from another forum having the same discussion. Looks like you have all the components for the GT based on this response.
Here's the post:
The GT equipment group for 69 consisted of heavy duty suspension, hood pins, rocker stripes, GT gas cap, GT emblems on the center caps of the styled steel wheels, simulated hood scoop, and quad exhaust outlet on dual exhaust equipped cars.
The GT package wasn't available with the Mach 1 package as some of the stuff overlapped. The 351 2v engines (H code) were single exhaust only with both packages unless the dual exhaust option was ordered separately. The 351 4v (M code) and larger engines with both packages automatically came with dual exhaust standard.
The Mach 1 became the top of the line performance model displacing the GT. Only 5,396 got this option across all 3 body styles in 1969 while there were 72,458 Machs built in the Sportsroof body only.
The Mach had more standard extras than the GT like the front and rear spoilers. They had to be ordered separately for the GT, although they were a deletable item on the Mach. The Mach also came with a woodgrain dash and upgraded interior.
