'69 Fastback GT - How Rare?

In the fall of 1968, I took possession (in my parent's name) of a new '69 Mustang Fastback GT from Sexton Ford in Moline, Il. It was all candy apple red with GT wheels and hubcaps and gas filler cap. It had the GT tri-stipes in white on the rocker panels. Interior was red also. Equipped with a 351-4v windsor, automatic, fake hood scoop, hood hold-down pins, a/c, ps, pb, manual windows, am/fm radio, fold-down rear seat with interior access door to trunk. Since this was the last year of GT's because the Mach 1 killed it off, can any one tell me how many were built like it? It was a special order car at the time. I no longer have the VIN # for the car as I traded it back to Sexton Ford for an early model year '72 LTD in the fall of '71! Yeah, I know....dumb!! Is there any way to track what became of the car after I sold it? If it still exists? Over the years, I have never been able to find another one like it online anywhere. Just how rare was my baby? Thanks for any info.

The data on the website doesn't break out GT's and Mach 1's - the Mach 1 was basically the GT with an upscale package.

Fastback, Mach 1 72,458
Fastback, deluxe 5,958

You can partially reconstruct your VIN. First digit would be 9, second would be either F (Dearborn, MI), R (San Jose, CA) or T (Meteuchen, NJ). Though not guaranteed, your dealer had a somewhat higher chance of getting the car from Dearborn, so perhaps an "F". Body code for the fastback is "02". Your stated engine is the "M" code, also available with the Shelby's. Then last would be the consecutive unit number.

So your VIN might have been 9F02M100001, with the 100001 being replaced with the actual unit number. If the dealership still exists, they may have old records. Maybe.
