'68 mustang matching numbers
So I recently bought a '68 coupe 302 4v motor is in good shape and after some tinkering and a new coil she fired and ran. Body looks bad but after closer inspection only a few spots that where rusted threw the question is do I do a strait up classic restore or do I have some fun and add a few modern am entities such as cd player upgrade engine and tranny I love the classics but I also love big muscle

as i tell everyone with a plain jane coupe ... turn it into something special ... like a california special .. all it is is bolt on stuff largely .. and your 4 barrell 302 has a 2 barrell carb ...look at the photo gallery and see some other views of CS cars and maybe even some shelby`s ..

Your ride - your choice. I love the OEM stuff because it represents a historical snapshot of the time. If you keep all the OEM stuff separate, you can always revert it back to original. Though I had a 4V on my Galaxie, I gave the original 2V manifold & carb to the guy who bought it and he was glad to have it.

Well, the first thing I would do is get a Marti report to get a good idea of exactly what it started out as. Plain Jane coupes are not rare so you do have leeway in doing your own thing without destroying some rare piece of history. Personally, I'm not crazy about making clones though.

Which type of Marti Report would you recommend?
Help me understand what you mean by clone.
I also have a Plain Jane 1968 coupe. I'm trying to figure out what to do with it (besides getting it to go down the road!).

By "clone", I mean making the car appear to be something it isn't (like a California Special).
