Hi, I just joined this site. Looks like a very nice and interesting site. I'm from Massachusetts. Are there any other California Special owners out there? Here's a picture of my car. I'm actually thinking of selling it to buy an 05 GT. What are your thoughts on that?

I wouldn't sell it for an 05 by any means.

Welcome to TMS! Nice looking car!

Your GT/CS increases in value every year. What will an 05 be worth a year from now?

I know... thats why I'm so confused about this. :bang: I think the 05 with all its modern technology would be more fun to drive. I want a 5 speed V8. The CS is a 289 auto, I put a 4bbl carb and new intake on it with electronic ignition. It really made a big difference and goes like a bat outa heck! It really is a fun car and everywhere I go I get comments and waves. I just love the new Mustang, wish I could afford both!

Thanks for your comments.

why not put a 5 spd in the 68? you can do it for a couple grand and still not have a new car payment.

GREAT ADVICE there! Not THAT difficult to do, and it's COMPLETELY reversible, should you ever wish to go back 100% "stock".

I thought of that too, but the car is so original, engine, transmission etc. I hate to switch it over. I made a few changes to the engine but still have the original parts. People tell me its better to keep it as original as possible to hold its value.

You've got the same affliction as I had a couple months back... new car fever. You're probably infatuated with the '05s like me as well. They're a great-looking car and will turn heads for the next couple of years. But then, they'll be old hat. There will be as many of them on the roads as Fox bodies right now - and your California Special will be even more desirable. Yeah - I'd love a new '05 with electric everything and no squeaks and power to spare, but not at the expense of my '66. Hold tight and common sense will eventually prevail!

Welcome aboard!

Only you can make the call on keeping or selling the classic. I too love the new 05, but I'm personally going to find another way to afford one. (probably by saving up for an 06/07)

Your all right, I should wait, maybe they will come out with a new California Special model and I can have one of each! How cool would that be! I heard they are thinking about it for a future model.

Keep the C/S, and save up for the 05---the price for the used ones will come down as your ability to afford it will go up. Eventually the lines will cross and you won't regret your decision to keep the C/S. B)

Robyn, ask yourself these questions............... How many C/Specials do you see out there? Most importantly ......... How many are left?
