68 260 conversion

Hello everybody! I have a project (convert a 68 3 spd 6 cyl into a 260 w/ a Tremec 5spd). I'll start by saying the 260 isn't my choice and I'm aware of further mod's that need to be done (steering, suspension, brakes, axle ect.). One hurdle at a time. My current issuses are motor mounts, the engine mounts on the 260 have a 5" or 5 1/2" spacing where it bolts to the block.Where as 289,302 ect. have a 6" or 6 1/2". I have a set of high dollar mounts but they would have to be redrilled and modified. I would perfer not to do this, looking for a simpler solution. Can't find the mounts I need. This is not a popular conversion and for good reason. As for the tremec 5 spd they supplied me with a adapter plate that bolted up to the stock 5 bolt bellhousing. The tranny mount also has issuses but I think ( I hope ) I can resolve this with tremec. Anybody have any knowledge on this type of conversion? Thank's for any guidance.

i just believe you`re on your own on this one .. please ditch the 260 .. even if you succeed in getting something to work you will have equal problems repairing anything down the road .. far too many 289`s/ 302`s out there to use the 260 .. you`d be better off putting a flat head in it .. way more aftermarket parts ...

I agree 100% and discourge anybody else from trying this conversion. It's been a challenge from the day the motor arrived. Thanks for your imput.
