I think someone got a pretty solid building point for a pretty radical street machine:

I think the Vette rear is in there because that's what the shop building it probably was familiar with. The Pro Touring scene has really taken off more on the GM side ... while the Mustang crowd "restomods" by hiding their electronic ignitions under the distributor cap and their CD players in the glovebox

The Vette stuff is probably cheaper too, like most GM parts.

Jay, is there something wrong with modifications that aren't calling out for attention and "look what I did"? Ford did a great job of styling the Mustang. It's the whole reason it's still around. Subtle mods will always be in style, because the original will always be in style. 20 inch rims and indash CD are trendy and will be looked down upon in 10-20 years, just like spring shackles, slapper bars, 15x10 Cragers and car alarm keyholes in the front fenders.

My grandparents' van has one of those.

Mark,
Sounding a bit Historic now, it's ok though you are in a different category with your style of building. But, since you have a crystal ball could you also tell me the Super Bowl outcomes for the next 10-20 years?
I'm sure there will be a backlash against the bigwheels someday and everyone will be competing for the smallest wheels and tires without any modifications ... you got 13s? well I GOTS 8s
You can modify and still retain the original style and class, no doubt but this whole concept of "Restomod" is oversold and does not stack up well in todays world of building.

Anyone who knows him knows that Mark likes to disagree. It's the engineer in him. You two guys have built cars on completely different levels. Mark's is mostly stock in appearance with only some minor "hidden" updates. Jay is going for a lot more custom mods and trying some new things.
Isn't that the way most street rodders build their cars? I know a 32 Ford truck that could use some help like that, Mber.
