65 Mustang wheel size

Hello all. Brand new member and classic Mustang owner here. I just purchased my 65 Mustang. It was previously a 6 cylinder car, but now has a 302 with a C4 automatic from the previous owner. Despite the 6 cylinder roots, it has 5 lug hubs with 14" wheels. My question deals with wheel size. I have seen many articles that discuss the ability to go up to 16" with the proper back spacing. Does anyone have any experience here? I'd like to move up to something larger, but don't want to encounter any rubbing issues. Many thanks in advance!

I got 15s for my 65. Same set up as yours except mine are still 4 lug. Tire store said I could go up to 17s easy. They'll be able to show you which ones are 00 so they won't rub.
