Could someone suggest good parts catalog to order from, also would is it better to keep everything original or does it hurt the value if your making modern upgrades such as power steering, and suspension?

It depends on what your going for and what you want. By the picture, if i had the time and money (and the numbers matched) i would go for the factory look because it seems to be in very good shape. But that's just me

Thanks David, my dad purchased the car new in 65, and he told me that someone stole the transmission back in the seventies, but other than that all numbers matching.
I've had good experiences from those companies. You can practically re-build the entire car with all of the parts they have.
If I were you, I would keep it stock. since its basically a one owner car, I think it will maintain its value better, especially its its a true GT. Godspeed in your restoration!

I agree with Cody and David. It being a GT and knowing the history of the car I'd go original as possible. If it were just a regular 6 banger coupe or something I'd mod it the way I wanted it.
if it is in decent shape as it is i would simply get it functioning .. it`s only original once ...it will get more oohS and aaws at the show than a pristine restore ..

I was thinking the same thing, I even have all the original keys.
I would keep the exterior and interior stock looking, but upgrade to power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, A/C (if it doesn't have factory air), and upgrade the suspension. And whether or not it was originally an automatic, I would put in a 4-speed. Since I assume you are not going to sell it, turn it into something you'll enjoy driving.

I love that idea. Every once in a while at Barrett-Jackson they have an "unrestored survivor," all-original car roll across the block. It might not look perfect, but there is still something really special about it!
