I Just bought an 05 and am excited about the classic styling. It comes without any fender emblems so I am installing classic ones. What does the "289" represent above the triangle on the front fender emblems? Is that horse power? I found one that says "high performance" which would be pretty generic that I plan to use.

I already put the tribar with pony in the LOWER corner of the side fender like the classic designs. The newer ones are higher. Everytime I see a classic Mustang now I have to check it out from bumper to bumper!

 

what does 289 mean?????? well if you don't know, don't put them on your car!!!! I don't suggest messing up the clean lines with emblems, but seeing your already there. 289 is the cublic inches of your motor. seeign you have a new stang the 289 does not apply to your car...IMO

He has the V6 in his car though.......To each his own, but I wouldn't do it.

 

It'll just draw flak. Still, if he wants to zebra-stripe it, it is his.

Still, don't put any emblem on your car that you don't know. People will compare you to the kids that drive Hondas with Japanese characters all over it--none of which they have any idea what they mean.

The 4.6 Liter is 281 cubic inches (2005 Mustang Performance Specs).

If you want fender badges, get some 2000-2003 V6 Pony fender badges.
