2 weeks and counting until the rebuild starts...
So I now have to prepare to pull the trigger on what exactly I want to do body wise on my 69' Vert so I can give direction to the guys doing the work. Here is a list of what I am considering, tell me what you think either as a don't do it or a better alternative idea or something else I should also consider doing. Once I consider all options and decide I can then finish my photo shop and get some more detailed opinions on it.
Shaving the front and rear side marker lights
Adding Shelby side scoops
Adding Shelby duck tail spoiler end caps and trunk lid (trying to decide wether or not to keep the Mach spoiler look as well or is it overkill)
Changing out regular hood pins for Shelby twist type
Making a custom lower valance grill out of the extra main grill I have (it would cover over the parking lights as well)
Relocating antenna to rear driver side qtr.
Changing out to color keyed mirrors (right now the style is same as Mach 1 only in aftermarket chrome)
That's about it for the body work, pretty minor so far. I am still pondering wether or not to go the extra step and shave the handles off too. If I could find electric windows unit for the front and rear that was all inclusive then I would definitly do this as well.
So what do you think, too much, not enough, what?????? FYI, the interior will be partially modified too but that's further down the road.

I've seen the Shelby duck tail on both coupes and 'verts, and I think it looks great
. I wouldn't shave the side marker lights though. It was federally mandated in '68 for safety, and depending on the state inspection you have to pass, could result in not getting an inspection sticker :nono: . The grill sounds interesting, and if it doesn't end up looking like you think it should could be easily removed. All the other stuff is just your personal preference.
the mach spoiler woul definately be overkill, but you could always set it on the trunk once you have the car painted to see what you think. as for door handles why not try the pt cruiser handles that some people have used, i think it would look good. the shaved marker lights would be sweet to. i was planning on doing that to my car at one point as well but decided to go with a more stock look
Yeah, I figured that was exactly what I would do with the rear spoiler B. The Machs have both and look good but I ain't drillin no holes in theat new trunk lid until I know for sure.
As for the marker light question, ya know it's funny. I asked a simillar question on Stangnet a while back to one of the guys who had a car on Overhaulin. They shave the markers, mirros and seat belts so i asked how you get it inspected and basically everyone treated the question like I was an idiot for even asking.
I believe the most intelligent reply was to just keep taking it to places until you find a teenager that just likes the car and doesn't care about what is legal.
I guess my point now then 69G would be that wouldn't someone need to be a Mustang enthusiast to know that this is only Ok on pre 68 cars? I mean sure we all know, but would they?
This is exactly why I asked though, I don't want to go thru the trouble just to have to cut into the new paint and put them back in.
