I recently came upon the opportunity to buy a 1967 Mustang from a "family Member". It would be a project car because it needs some obvious love and attention. He is only asking $2500 for it and I wanted to know if that would be considered a good price for the year and condition car?
It has the 289 V-8 with one 4 bbl Carb and he said the motor came out of another car and was getting in the low 400's on HP. It has a new transmission, modified exhaust, seats but no other interior, some external rust but not "Rusty". I was not able to get a VIN and do my research yet or able to look undernear the car so I am not able to get a feel for the underside. The wheels and tires look a little rough and would have to be replaced before driving it anywhere other than off and on a trailer.

Send your thoughts,
Thanks

Is it a coupe or a fastback?

external rust means internal rust. Good bet that the cowl is shot.... $$$

IMO, if its rusty like that: coupe - nuh uh fastback - still in the running.....investigate further.

Now, if it had a STEEDA BILLET POWER SEAT BUTTON.....whoo boy, it'd be a no-brainer!

It's not very likely that car is anywhere near 400hp in that kind of shape unless someone spent every dime on the engine and nothing else meaning it wouldn't be safe to drive even if it were true.

You really need to take some detail pics and get the vin for us to give you any kind of serious evaluation on it.

Sorry, it is a Coupe with the Special Vented Hood for that year. Working on getting some pictures and tracking down the VIN before puchasing.

If anybody is interested, I have a '67 Fastback C-code for sale. An unmolested, no-rust car. I have painted the hood, trunk, doors, fenders, misc. parts, etc., just need to paint roof & rear quarters & reassemble. Many new parts. PM me if interested.

Didnt mean to barge in on your post but thanks.
