Installing fenders, hood, etc all requires "minor adjustments" to align them. I didn't find that to be untypical.

Eh I don't know about that. I had to hammer my new fenders to get them to line up and they still aren't perfect. Also my repro door isn't lining up well as well. So I say more than just "minor" adjustments will be needed.

A rusted out 67 convertible could be fixed up for less than what they want for a new one.
