1966 Mustang Coupe Restoration

You shouldn't have much along the lines of vacuum lines, so show some pics of what you got. Parking brake cables can be a little tricky, but here's a Mustang Monthly article. Also you can use google images to look at others.

A lot of this. No badges, no antenna, '66 plain grille, no tow bar down brackets under front and rear bumpers. Plain and simple elegance is to be had that way. I'd do the standard hood myself. Standard chrome otherwise, don't be blackin' out anything.
For the body, get thee some 1966 Emberglo but ensure it has the gold, silver, and green metallics in it. Or good pearl. And triple heavy clear coat that for a nice candy look. It'll look *sweet.*
But for the top, that you get painted with 2015 Toyota Super White II, and do the same metallic/pearl treatment. Sametriple heavy clear coat as well. And you acquire/make/? the vinyl top option pieces to separate the top and the quarter panel so as to separate the two colors 'cleanly'.
For the wheels, you get... well, whatever these are on this one:
I like them a lot for this car.
For the interior, get some covers made. But first, acquire any 1979-1993 *hatchback* Mustang seats you want to use, and take off the brackets for the fronts, installing the '66 brackets on the seats. For the rear, be sure to get not only the seats, but the brackets. Swap the left and right brackets, and mount the seats, and you'll have fold downs in the back. A nice touch, really. Plus those seats in front are better than the originals by far.
Then you get the covers made, and you get them done in emberglo for the backs and bolsters, and '66 parchment (NOT tan... parchment, there is a difference) for the inserts. Whatever materials make you happy, I'd be doing a cloth on the seating surfaces myself.
Emberglo carpet is a must in that case. I'm sure you can find some. I used house carpet in a TBird once, that pile was actually dead on match for color and lasted a great long while, highly recommend, even though you have to make it work. Use the carpet on the package tray as well.
Oh, and one last thing, and it's kinda important. The rest of interior paneling (quarter panels, doors, dash, column) is to be completely vinyled up. No paint on the doors, dash, quarter panel trim... I think I'd go emberglo on the stuff, but use parchment inserts on the doors, to go along with the seats. I'm wafflin' on the parchment or emberglo headliner, but leaning towards parchment for a bit of brightness instead of fully dark emberglo. The dash is fully emberglo as are the kick panels.
Other item is a dome light/map light from a '78 Tbird or similar Ford overhead. It will help to light up the car, and map lights. The wiring and the mounting are semi obvious, or were when I did it on Muskrat.

Emberglo trunk carpet. *Everywhere*. And dress up the fold down area.
It'll be kick (word that means donkey). Trust me. I have forseen it, and would do it myself, except... well... reasons.
/Yep, living vicariously through other's projects.

I know. I held SO much back on my imagination, you have no idea.
I mean, I didn't even mention upgrading the front suspension to something where the shock towers come out so you have more room to put a 5.0 Coyote and a 5R555 transmission behind that, and 3.73 gears in the back with beefed up locations for some coil over shocks... And then the stereo ideas.... Oh, yeah, of course rack and pinion steering... "in dash" air conditioner... Console with cup holders...
That comes later.

hey guys so I have what appears to be the original window sticker, how do I determine what is what? their are 3 different #'s on there. there is a motor # which is an 11 digit #, a code # which is either 12 or 13 and a key # which is a 10 digit #. I'm trying to figure out which # to use on this site I found that tells you original colors, and features. http://www.oldride.com/library/1966_ford_mustang.html

I'm hear and happy to help with any questions!
I'm sure between all of us on here there should be no questions without answers!
(And some of those answers might even be right)!
Here is my favorite paint scheme!
