1966 FORD Mustang- Starter Solenoid Issues

Hello, has anyone had solenoid issues? New starter, battery, and ford manufactured solenoid ($50 CJ Pony) - I get around 20 starts and get the familiar defeating 1 maybe 2 clicking sound. I have gone through 3 solenoids, 2 NAPA, 1 CJ Pony. Now, I am guessing electrical issues or a ignition switch. If anyone has had the same issues, advice would be much appreciated.

Genuine OEM{ Motorcraft SW7663}
Same Part Just FORD vs MOTORCRAFT Cataloging
{ Ford B6AZ11450B} Starter Solenoid Relay.

Note, People Always Leave the Word [Relay] Out. Even Orielly's. The Solenoid is Actually on the Starter Itself. Certain Ford Starters Have a Starter Mounted Solonoid Like 70's Lincolns With 460 & The Like. Ebay Auction Shows Correct Verbage.

Perhaps Get a Genuine Ford Part. Looks Like they are Still available online and Likely at your Local Ford Dealer! I looked at CJ'S Those are Not Motorcraft. They State Alloy Metal Products: {Ford Styled Licensed Replacement} Not Saying They are Bad Just Saying Not Actual Oem Service Part. Those are For People wanting a Relay that Looks Like it did back in the day for Shows & Such. Just trying to give you options! Now if you buy it Local it will be much Easier to Get Warranty Service. Has 2 year Warranty.

Orielly Carries Motorcraft as Well, At Least they Can Order it!

Cheapest Genuine Part on Ebay Shown. Other Auctions May Use Part Number For Reference So Gotta Go with The MOTORCRAFT Box!

Be Advised the Ignition Switch is Obsolete But here is the Best Buy on Ebay! Might Not Be a Bad Investment! Certainly Better Than a Repop!

I have owned a Lot of the Older Fords & Seldom Had Issues with the Starter Solenoid Relay But then I always Used Genuine Ford. I never personally experienced the Constant Failure Issue. I still Try & use the Genuine Parts Whenever I can! Just Seems to Work Better!

As Far as Clicking, When I had Poor Battery Cables or Dirty / Loose Cables I would get the Dreaded Click / Clickity ZZZZZZ Sound And of Course a Low or Bad Battery would do that as well! Be Advised you can Have Bad Battery Cables even if they Look Good on the Outside. They can Rust up on the Inside. You did not mention your cables? I have had Issues with the Ground Cable where it Bolts to Engine Being loose and it is Usually in a Hard to get to Area and Overlooked!

Here is Some Handy DIY Info I found For You This A.M.

Oh and on A Side Note Don't Be Surprised where FORD Service Parts are Manufactured these Days when you read the Box. Nuff Said!

Hope This Was Helpful!

Good Luck!
