Ford Racing Mustang Wheels

Lightly-used wheels and tires from The Mustang Source marketplace can add style and performance to any 2005-2014 pony.

While flipping through The Mustang Source marketplace, we stumbled across these Ford Performance wheels for the S197 Mustang. They are listed for sale by steevesj as Shelby GT500 wheels, but these rollers come from the Ford Performance catalog and they could fit any Mustang built for the 2005 through 2014 model years. However, no matter what variety of pony car on which you plan to mount these new shoes, they are sure to add a sportier look at better grip on a hard launch or in a hard corner.

The Introduction

When the OP first posted these wheels for sale in the forum marketplace, he included pictures of the actual wheels and tires being sold, along with some grainy images of the wheels from the Ford Performance website and the key measurements of the wheels.

Ford Racing Mustang Wheels

“Set of 4 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 SVT Wheels and Michelin 4S Tires. Ford Performance forged aluminum Wheel SVT 19″ x 9″, bolt pattern 5 x 114.3 mm, Mustang GT/V6 and GT500. Will fit Shelby, GT, and Boss. Sold my Mustang and no longer need these. Tires have 8/32”. Tire sensors are installed.

Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and tire size is 275/35/ZR19 and come with road hazard certificate. Wheels are Ford Racing 9″ x 19″, bolt pattern 5 x 114.3 mm. One wheel has minor scratches but the other three are perfect. Wheels cost $1,600 and tires $1,200 when I purchased. Pick up in Gresham, Oregon.

In other words, three of the wheels are perfect and one has some curb rash while the tires appear to be like-new, while the other essentials for installation, including the Ford Racing wheel centers and the tire pressure monitor sensors, are included as well.

Time to Haggle

Unfortunately, while the OP pointed out that he paid $2,800 for these wheels and tires, he doesn’t state how much he wants for these rollers. He does point out that his Mustang has been sold, so he has no use for the wheels and with one of the wheels being damaged, he surely wants less than he paid new. The seller also makes it sound as though he wants to sell them to someone who will pick them up in Oregon, so if you want these wheels, you will need to make a trip to the upper northwest corner of the United States or you will have to find someone who is local to the seller who will pick them up and ship them to you.

Michelin Tires

However, since there is no price listed, perhaps the seller doesn’t have a number in mind, in which case the buyer has the chance to throw out a number and try to score a deal on new wheels and tires for their S197 Ford Mustang.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
