Ford Racing EcoBoost Mustang Gets All The Torque
While our own experience in the EcoBoost Mustang left us wanting much more seat time, the performance index of that car could be a bit better. Thankfully, we have Ford Racing. And according to them, the EcoBoost is about to get a serious increase in torque. Like 90ft-lbs serious.
As of right now, Ford Racing is in the development stages of a Ford Racing ECU tune for the new ‘Stang. The new tune will still comply with the factory warranty, but will make a heck of a lot more power and torque.
Right now the company has its ProCal hand-held programmer that can modify the performance of the other EcoBoost motors like the ST’s, but the Mustang version is coming soon.
Currently, the programmer and tune cost $595, which can see a jump in torque of about 90lb-ft. That’s a heck of a jump considering that the EcoBoost Mustang already has 320lb-ft of torque. If you add the full 90ft-lbs, it would put the EcoBoost’s numbers past the V8 powered Mustang GT.
Like I’ve said before, this car is going to be a serious performer.
