Fast N’ Loud Recreates Famous Mustang Bullitt & Movie Car Chase in SF

By -

Gas Monkey Garage and Chad McQueen teamed up for a very cool recreation of the famous chase scene in Discovery’s hit show.

After a brief hiatus, the wildly popular and in-your-face TV show Fast N’ Loud is back. And whether or not you love the ridiculous antics and “unique” style of Gas Monkey Garage owner Richard Rawlings, you can’t help but be entertained by them. And we were particularly interested to see that season 15 kicked off with not only a full-on Mustang Bullitt recreation build, but also a recreation of the movie Bullitt‘s iconic chase scene through the streets of San Francisco.

The idea came about from Steve McQueen‘s son, Chad. The younger McQueen approached Gas Monkey about transforming a 1968 Mustang Fastback into a Bullitt replica, then using that reborn machine to recreate one of the most iconic scenes in movie history. Except this time, the crew had a mere three days to do it, whereas the original chase scene took three weeks to nail down.

Of course, time crunches are nothing new for this (or any other) car show. But the unnecessary drama undoubtedly adds an interesting element to things. For TV purposes, this all happens in a tidy two hours. And honestly, it’s well worth the watch.

If nothing else, the ’68 Mustang Gas Monkey starts with certainly needs some help. And we’re happy to see that they transformed this ride into a faithful Bullitt recreation. Oftentimes, Rawlings likes to do things a little differently, with mixed results. But there’s nothing offensive or controversial about this build.

Throwing McQueen into the mix is a nice touch as well. Especially since Steve’s only son just recently helped Steeda unveil the Steve McQueen Edition Bullitt. A car we lusted over in person. So if you’re still in full blown fanboy mode with this iconic Highland Green ride, be sure and head over here to check out the full episode!
