Wheel hop isn't inherent in an IRS any more than a stick axle, including the Stang.
Apparently the 2015 IRS has about half the acceleration squat, and less brake dive (rise) than the current car -- better it power/brakes go more fully to going and whoa'ing than hobby-horsing up and down. Ford is well aware of the significant drag racing contingent among its fans, and the intense scrutiny they will visit upon the new IRS, so I am quite confident it will be fully up to drag duty on all measures (performance and durability).

This is curious and I wonder what kind of risk Ford might see with this and broken axles though? There's that risk of doing this on sticky dry pavement and breaking an axle. Regular street tires might be ok most of the time but somebody buying really good drag radials and not understanding the risk could really easily set themselves up to break the axle.

Do recall that live axles have, yes, axles that if not properly robust could break, just like an improperly robust IRS axle could snap. I suspect Ford is equally capable of designing robust axles for either rear suspension configuration.

I would have thought the special feature would have been something kind of like the GTR where it disables the speed limiter when GPS recognizes you are at a track or something
Hence the interior shot of one of the promo cars showing the Laguna Seca track on the nav screen

Also, if you get the DCT in the M3/4 it will allow both clutches to be released in whatever gear you are in...allows better drifting.
This is a feature on the new 991 GT3.

This still seems wicked as I'd totally use that feature in a DCT car.

I would say that if the unannounced secret feature is actually Burn-Out Control, then the leaked M3/M4 info stole the Mustang's secret OEM-first feature's thunder! I think Ford was hoping to hold a few things back to keep a little hype going until the car starts hitting dealer floors.
