Base interior blues...what factory parts can be added (easily) to dress it up?

I love spartan/plain interiors in muscle cars but after almost 2 years with the sea of grey, Im ready to jazz it up a bit.

Will any of the "nicer" factory pieces Mount up to to the dash without surgery? Which do you reccomend?

What about the shifter, etc?

Thanks for any advice!

You could add some of the suede/alcantara components. Like anything else it adds up quick- I'd go with the steering wheel first if you wanted to start with anything- I hear it bolts up pretty well, and if in doubt- I'd think a dealer would do it pretty reasonably?

Maybe a different shifter?

Watch for the leather Premium Steering Wheels on EBAY that Roush takes off when modifying their cars. I got a brand new leather Ford premium wheel taken off a premium mustang for $89....local guy charged $40 to install it...my dealer wanted $160!!! That one option really dressed up the interior. I actualy like the base dash better as it matches the grey used throughout the interior, rather than having a bright silver dash and a darker grey elsewhere.

Cool...thanks. I really like the Boss steering wheel...but I presume there is no way to make those buttons functional, is that right?
The shifter is a good idea as well...thanks a ton for the links.

That's a hell of a deal on a premium steering wheel. Congrats!

I hear you on the grey dash trim but after spending some time in premiums, it looks like my dash is actually missing something.

So I think I like the Boss dash pieces the best but I'd need to remove that logo...has anyone tried this? How hard is it to pop the dash panels out without breaking them or damaging the rest of the dash board?

Thanks a million, guys...

I too like the Boss dash panels; kind of reminds me of the late 70's Trans-Am's. I'll be following this link to see if anyone chimes in.

I had a black "Smokey and the Bandit" 78 Trans-Am with the TA 6.6 motor with that dash you liked......may have only been 220 hp but had gobs of torque...the car was a blast to drive....of course I was much younger then!!

Start by adding a white shift ****. It brightens up the interior nicely.

We converted the seats to leather, added the MRT adjustible headrests, added the Chrome SHR door handles, switched the steering wheel with one out of an 09 Premium, and switched the door sills with the ones out of my 08GT Premium. I think it looks very good now.

Check www.blueovalindustries.com. They has some nice chrome dress-up things that you may like. I've bought some items from them, and everything went smoothly.

Buttons on the boss wheel can work but it takes a dealer. I did it a couple of weeks ago. Search the forums for the details. Boils down to a single value being changed in the ACM data. Rates vary, dealer I had do it charged 150 to install the wheel and flash the car to enable the buttons. Bit of a rip off as it should take less than an hour for them to do.... But it's nice to be able to run the radio now.

You many not want to deal with that horrible company and the infamous nutjob/maniac that runs it. Consider yourself warned.

I double that endorsement ... Worst customer service, they ship damaged goods and charge you double and they charge you restocking fees and have you pay for shipping to return an item IF they decide you are holy enough to return something.

Same here. I had to pay twice for shipping because apparently it was returned to sender the first time. since I had no proof (yet nothing showed up the first time) I was forced to

Glad to hear. I may have just been lucky on my order. It was just some small items.

Thanks...I followed that thread for a long time but when I left off, it was still inconclusive if this could be done or not.
If I can get this done for a reasonable price, this would push me over the edge to buy one for my car.

Is your car a 300A/base too?

You mentioned you changed to leather seats. Can you be more specific as to where you got them? I'm sure you didn't replace the seats, only the upolstery, right?

NTO 2012 Premium Leather Charcoal w/ white stitching skins from Shelby Clearance store. I think they were less then $150 shipped, but I had to buy headrest skins separate... Shelby store claimed they're not included with the seat skins, but I've talked to other people who said they were shipped with their orders.. pot luck I guess.

Yes, its my pleasure to spread WOM and empower other consumers. Here's my post from another forum. I was still fuming when I wrote this and it shows. I would perhaps omit some of the name calling this time around. I am still stunned that he didn't want my business and that he was offended by a few standard questions about price matching, shipping costs etc. He's an order taker and not a salesman.

Here it is:

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...void-them.html

"It's not a secret that BOI is run by a maniac. I called him for info about tire pressure sensors and he got madder and madder as the questions continued, until he hung up on me. He wouldn't answer the phone to take my "follow up" call but I emailed him and told him that I 'd make it my mission to spread as much bad PR about him as possible. I put off opening a thread such as this one because I've been busy. If you buy from this guy after reading this, you deserve the rough ride you will certainly get.

To the BOI dude: you only have yourself to blame for your inevitable bankruptcy sucka! Take that first course in entrepreneurship at the local high school and educate yourself.

All power to the internet and free speech!"
