I thought you'd like the color combo. Not sure how you felt about the year.

So from what I am reading on here, if your order is locked you have a good chance of getting the car, however time is running out. It sounds like they will be producing the 2014 pretty soon. I'm curious to see what the changes will be with next year's model. Waiting can be agonizing, but you have waited this long. How do you feel about a 2014?

Wishing you the best on this order.

Hi everyone - I just joined today. I started looking around for a GT500 just last Tuesday, having spent a week reading reviews and road tests, so I was really late to the game. I was surprised and pleased to find one with the SVT pack and all the other options at a Ford Dealer just 10 miles from me. I called but was told a dealer in California has bought it and another rival dealer in the town where I live independently backed that up.

They invited me to come to look at before it shipped so I drove over there right away and when I got there I discovered the California deal had not been verified yet, so I was able to put a first-right-of-refusal holding deposit on it there and then. My wife and I went there next morning, and after many hours of haggling, we bought it and drove it off the lot that afternoon.

Having found this forum and read all the stories of months of waiting and all that agony and frustration, I feel dead lucky to have bought this one so quickly and easily - it was luck and timing. It was even in the spec and color we wanted (black with stripe delete -- very menacing looking!).

So I have had it just 5 days and absolutely love it. My wife called the test drive "freakin' scary". Being British where we drive sticks all the time, it's fun to get back to one. I've had 15 years of auto SUVs while kids grew up, so now it's my turn!

It's definitely getting the looks when I drive it and a lot of thumbs up from other high performance car drivers (Porches etc.). Nice!

I'll post pics soon. Can't do it from my iPad and I'm sitting in a Starbucks right now....

I have never ordered or for that matter purchased a car new off the lot, but from my experience buying used and working with dealerships-I decided a couple years ago to always look at private sellers first before going to the dealership. This tactic has paid off for our family as we have purchased great, well taken of vehicles and saved thousands of $$$ and frustration in the process-this includes our current Mustang.

Can't wait to see the pics of your Shelby though

Hey bud, it wouldn't work for you even if it were a vert. Its a leftover 2012. Just look at the wheels. they are NON-SVTPP wheels. 2013 non-SVTPP has different wheels.

A 2012 vert would work for us. We're just looking for a cruising car, not a track car. That's why we opted for the rag-top and no performance package. Seems kinda silly getting a wobbly ole convertible & paying extra for the performance suspension just for driving around town.

I almost cancelled my order and bought a 2012 vert. I like the wheels on those better than the ones on the 2013. At least they're the same diameter & there are more tire options to choose from.

On second thought, I really do like the LED tail lights & the darker blue stripes on the 2013. I think we'll keep our 2013 order live for now.

Found another 2012 at my local dealership. Just came in. Wrong color and no vert, but still a beauty. They are out there. Keep searching.

That's a 2010. Has halogen lights. And old rear seat headrests that are non-adjustable.

Today our order status was changed to "sent to production."

Anybody have any idea what this means?

I'm guessing it's good news that it's finally getting somewhere. I only wish I could be there to see it getting built. I'm sure my 4 year old son would love to see all the robots putting our car together too!

Your dealer can provide you a printout of your vehicle history which shows all the stages of your car's conception, birth, and delivery, including all the railroad stops along the way. Just ask him to email you a cut and paste from their computer.

My dealer won't answer my phone calls, emails or even see me in person when I drive >20 miles to his dealership to talk with him. I don't even expect to see him when I come in to pick up the car & drop of my BIG check to pay for the car.

No one at the dealership will talk to you?

The owner is the only person who handles the special orders. HE has been my nemesis. As soon as you mention the words Shelby or BOSS, you're directed to talk to him.

The Sales Mgr & Delivery Mgr have been very helpful.

Now that our car is due for delivery in the next week or so, the level of cooperation from the dealership has picked up.

We've got the check from the bank and just waiting for that phone call.

It won't be long now. You will be that much more excited when you get the car because of your journey.

There is a TON more I can post about how the dealer kept ignoring my calls & emails. He didn't even stick around to finish the deal when the car arrived. I'll give him props for two things he did at the end of the deal:

1) He did tell the branch dealership that received the car that it was OK to go ahead and put on the new tires I had delivered to the dealership even though I had not finalized the purchase.

2) The car arrived almost at closing time for the receiving dealership. I would not have time to inspect the car, drive to his dealership and complete the transaction & then get back to the receiving dealership to pick up the car before they closed. I asked that I be allowed to drive the car to his dealership so I didn't have to wait until the next day to receive the car. He agreed that if I signed a waiver assuming responsibility for the vehicle, I could drive it to pay for it.

Why are you dealing with two dealers?

Here's how it all went down on Friday...

I had a very strong feeling that the car would arrive yesterday. Deysha was able to verify that the car had been put on a truck and that it was very likely that it would be delivered Friday.

My super-cool-best-boss-I-ever-had allowed me to leave early enough to get to the receiving dealership to wait for the car.

Because the dealership I ordered from is in a very congested area with no place for a transport to safely unload, they deliver all cars to their sister dealership 8 miles away. So that's where I went Friday. I got there about 4:55pm. I waited in the truck for a few minutes before going in. I got out of the truck and here is what I saw:

The Service Mgr at the receiving dealership is a great guy. He has been very helpful with the tires and updates for me. I went into the service center to find him. When I saw him, he had a look on his face like "what are you doing here, I didn't call you yet?" I asked him "are you ready for a cigarette break?" Immediately a big grin came across his face & we both sprinted outside. Sure enough, the transport was out back and the driver was getting ready to unload my baby.

We watched it get unloaded

& he did his initial inspection.

Satisfied with the car's condition, he signed for it and took it inside to have it prepped.

The Tech who did the prep was also extremely nice. He did a great job and let me know all the things they were doing for the prep.

We drove the car to the dealership where we bought the car and the owner didn't even have the professional courtesy to meet me there to finalize the deal. No big deal. I didn't really expect much from him anyhow.

After it was all done, I got to drive our new baby home.

Unfortunately, because the car arrived almost at closing time, we had to wait until this morning to put the new tires on. I grabbed a quick pick of my two Stangs next to each other.
