2012 GT: In my grubby little paws (Quite a few more night pics)

I took delivery of my 2012 GT Premium today. It is literally fully loaded and has every option, up to and including the rear sensors and camera and HIDs, etc. etc.

It had 10.2 miles on it, and I picked it up from Waldorf Ford, who - except for the typical "If you modify it in any way your entire warranty is void" drivel - was excellent throughout the process.

This thing is WICKED SICK. I'm not gonna go into a full review because frankly, there are dozens of those for the '11 and the '12 isn't really any different. The only problems I'm having are that the garage remote refuses to learn to my opener... and my Evo 4G refuses to sync to the car. It's pretty **** frustrating, but it's probably something I'm doing wrong. Oh well. Anybody got any ideas?

Anyhoo, here's some crappy pictures I took - two of them are from said Evo and the rest were taken right at dusk and the light was really crappy. I'll take better pics tomorrow, promise!

Anyway, onto the pics:

Nice!! It took me a while to get my Toyota Sienna hooked up to a garage door that I have. The only problem is that I still have not been able to get it hooked up to the one on my house that I actually need it to be used for. I think I will have to just contact the Garage door opener customer service, or if worse comes to worse eventually buy a new garage door opener, if I want to use the feature. Who knows what will happen.

Nice, looks close to what I ordered.

I notice in the pics, the reverse sensors aren't obtrusive at all IMO

Also, the selectable steering effort is pretty nifty. I have it set at "Sport". "Normal" is pretty comfortable as well. "Pillowey Soft" would be nice for long highway trips where steering becomes an inconvenience. The garage opener would be nice if the ****er worked.

I did notice from the other thread that the traction control button has indeed been genericalized. The reverse sensing system is pretty unobtrusive - you can't really see the sensors unless you're looking for them.

The glass roof is unbelievably sweet; you should definitely go for it if you can. It makes the car feel like a big ol' opera house.

I can tell you whatever else you'd like to know - I just don't know what else to say about it. Oh yeah; I'm the first person on the forum (and maybe even in the country) to get a '12 in his hands. Oh yeah.

Congratulations, it's goregous!

Every picture I see of Kona makes me love it a little bit more. I didn't think that was still possible. I'm going to look like an extra in Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun video by the time mine actually arrives.

Nice Mustang! The Sticker price on that thing would make me nauseous! I've loaded one out on the Ford Build Your Own site and it was nuts!

Is there a big difference between the 3 settings? Congrats by the way, I'm jealous and cant wait for mine to come!

Very nice! I do like the Kona Blue. As for the garage door opener...I am going to "assume" your door opener in the garage has a rolling code system. It changes every time you open and close the door.

You will have to get your owners manual for the opener, and follow those directions. In my case, I had to put a ladder under the opener, go up and hit the learn button, climb back down, run to the car (I had 10 seconds), and hit the in car Home Link button. Hold it until the light blinks and stops. Your home system may be different. But it is worth a try if you do not have the manual for the opener.

No task killer, but it is rooted. I'm running the stock ROM but it's just glitching out constantly. My wife's phone, which isn't rooted, also has problems pairing up. From what I read we aren't the only ones with Evo 4Gs that are having problems.

There is actually a surprising amount of difference between the three settings. Comfort is more akin to a Crown Vic than a Mustang - the feeling is numb and little to no effort is required. Standard is decently firm and has good feedback. Sport makes it feel like a Ferrari - very quick and direct steering. Of course the ratio isn't changed, but the effort makes it seem like a much more expensive car.

I tried following the stupid bloody manual for two hours. Hold the two outer buttons for 1-2 seconds, hit the learn button on the garage opener, then hold button down until it magically works. IT DOESN'T. The worst part is, when I hit the button the light on the opener blinks - it's receiving the signal, but it refuses to learn to it. Very frustrating.

I'm really glad to hear there is a big difference between the steering options, its the #1 reason I don't regret just buying a 2011 instead of waiting for the 2012 I ordered

2011's actually have 2 of the three steering settings:

Normal on 2012 is default on 2011
Sport on 2012 is the same as 2011 when you double-tap the traction button (Sport Mode)

What we don't have is a "comfort" mode which is the soft one
