Leather care
My leather seats have never been that supple, but over the last couple years they remind me more of rawhides than a leather seat. Anyone have a good leather care product to condition dried out leather?
Armor All leather care wipes and snot--er... I mean lotion-- doesn't do squat. I've been using it since I got the car, and the leather's not cracking or deteriorating, but I seriously doubt the Armor All has anything to do with that.

Leather needs to be cleaned and protected periodically to remain at a PH of 4.5 to 5. Using car care products that are not buffered in this range will result in a stiff boardy and sometimes even a sticky handle. Exposure to extreme heat, cold, wet and damp conditions will excel the aging process of automotive leather interiors. The best choice is to use products that are sold by leather care experts. Guardsman is definately in this niche. They have excellent Leather Clean and Renew and Leather Protector products that will serve you well. Sold in wipes and bottles through www.guardsman.com Make sure that you apply care products to leather and vinyl when you are not in direct sunlight or in extreme heat situations. Pick a cool morning or afternoon to apply. The Leather Protector will serve well to help prevent staining and discoloring of leather caused by overall soiling. Apply these care products weekly to leather wrapped steering wheels, vinyl dash boards, handles, gear shifs and especially leather and vinyl car seats.
Guardsman also has a Multi use Dusting cloth that can be used between cleaning and protection applications. This is an awesome way to keep dust particulates from accumlating on all the smooth surfaces and hard to reach areas found inside the car and truck. Dust is abbrasive and a regular wipe down on the seats will prolong the life of your leather and vinyl topcoat. They have Fabric Protector that works well to protect carpets and floor mats and it has been time tested on all types of fabric upholstery. If you have Ink on leather or vinyl they have a great Ink Erase Wipe too. I absolutely love this line of products!

Use surf city products. I use dash away to clean the leather first , and all the other plastic parts, then I used voodoo leather conditioner. It looks a 100% better. I was so glad I bought this stuff. I'm going to try there clay bar next. I'm very impressed with there products so far.

As far as leather goes, I wouldn't recommend using anything on your leather in addition to the Leatherique unless it's a leather specific water-based breathable product like Leather Master Protection Cream or GTechniq L1. While it's not unrealistic in thinking of the damage UV rays can cause to interior components like leather, what you'll be over-looking is that the number one way that interior leather is damaged is through wear - not sun. The abrasive action of things rubbing against the urethane coating that is on your leather such as cotton or synthetic clothing material, or dirt/grime degrades the top-coat much more rapidly than the sun ever will.
Combine this idea with what most products you'd otherwise put on your leather will do (sit on top and attract additional dirt/grime which in turns wears the leather FASTER), and you can see why many leather experts and professionals often recommend nothing be used on leather as a "protective" or "conditioner." Most things that can be purchased for leather-care or to treat leather are only made to capitalize on the large amount of people that think they need "conditioners."
Shiny leather is often a sign of build-up and can be seen on nearly any leather interior that is more than a few years old. Take a good look at brand-new leather, and you'll see the natural sheen of what it's supposed to look like. That look should be your goal.
The number one way to preserve your leather and keep it looking outstanding is to keep it clean.

Love The Lexol Products
Just completed the Lexol re-treatment on our pony's interior yesterday. Try to do this two or three times a year. This morning after drying all night, that leather looks, feels and still smells just like it is show room fresh! Not bad for a Mustang that just had it's fourth birthday!! Oh yes and it still has that wonderful natural soft sheen that Marc spoke of here. Goodluck!! CalStang
