Ultra-Exclusive Classics at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach
A Boss 429 and a Celebrity-Owned GT Fastback Are Set to Cross the Barrett-Jackson Auction Block
When the “World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction” heads down south to sunny Palm Beach, Florida, you can always expect a variety of special vehicles to be included. As such, for 2017, the Ford Mustang will be represented in epic fashion, with two particularly unique examples.
First up is a rare Boss 429 Mustang, one of only 271 cars painted in Wimbledon White. Craig Jackson, the auction company’s chairman and CEO has this to say about the car: “After a Boss 429 ended up as the top seller at our 2016 Palm Beach auction, I’m excited to have another fine example among the great lineup of Fords this year.”
In past auctions, Boss 429 Mustangs have fetched well into the six figures. A model in 2015 even sold for more than half-a-million dollars. We’ll have to wait and see what this numbers-matching 429 takes in. But it came out of the factory with options like Traction-Lok differential, four-speed close-ratio transmission, front disc brakes, and a deluxe interior. And its engine was rebuilt last year by a Boss specialist, who documented the entire process.

In addition to the Boss, NFL player Reggie Wayne’s 1967 Mustang GT fastback will also be hitting the block. The custom fastback includes an electronically fuel-injected 545-cubic-inch V8 paired to a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission. Other features include a full leather interior with special metal accents. As is the case with most celebrity vehicles, the Mustang is expected to be well-received.
Be sure to stay tuned as these two pony cars, along with many more, make their way to Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach, April 6-8.
