Dusty Cobra R Has A $175,000 Price Tag
While this dust-coated Cobra R may look a bit rough, it might just be one of the lowest-mileage examples left. So, the seller wants $175,000.
I’ve been very open in the past about my disdain for cool high-performance cars with no miles on them. That’s even specifically true of the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R. While I’d be more than happy to wax about the juxtaposition of permanently parking a car that engineers spent countless days developing to give drivers a hardcore experience, that dead horse has been beaten to death. Besides, the last time I took time out of my day to complain about this very subject, that car only had 19 miles on the odometer. This one might as well get ready for retirement! It has a whopping 43.6 miles on the odometer.
The big difference, then, is that this one is for sale while the 19-mile one was not. It’s currently available via Silver Arrow Cars, an awesome dealership out of Newport Beach, California, that has a phenomenal collection of some truly outstanding cars available for purchase. The asking price is an eye-watering $175,000. However, consider a fairly recent Bring a Trailer sale of a 725-mile example for $120,000; they likely already have a line of buyers negotiating.
Delivery Condition: Just Dusty
Initially, I assume this was a car that was rescued from the Palisades fires and was covered in dust. Now, though, it’s clear that this thing was put in long-term storage from new. The post doesn’t offer any historical information on the car. However, inquisitive buyers probably could get those answers.
A peek inside reveals that the car is still in delivery condition. The floor mats and passenger seat are still wrapped in plastic. It still has the original window sticker, too. It is a bit of an interesting call to leave the dust on the car when taking pictures, especially considering the top-tier price tag. Perhaps it’s a way to allure buyers to signify that it has, indeed, been sitting and doing nothing close to what the SVT team designed it to do. What an attractive feature!
Ultimately, it’s a cool thing to see a frozen-in-time SVT Cobra R at the surface level. It’d be a lot cooler if it were limited to just one example. However, given the sales of all the sub-1,000-mile examples, we know the real truth. No, it’s not shocking to see collectible cars get collected; it’s just offensive to driving enthusiasts. I digress again; it’s a rich person’s thing I’ll never understand, because I’ll never be a rich person.
This is the part where I’d usually plead to the buyer of this car to take it out for an occasional drive. Maybe, I’d even shoot for the moon and say I hope it winds up on a track stretching its legs like it’s supposed to. I know the truth, though. So, instead, I’ll just wrap it up nice and easy. That’s a cool Cobra R, huh?
