Custom Mario Andretti Powered 1969 Boss Mustang
Meet “The Real Thing“ and its 777HP ’69 Motor
You won’t find another custom Boss 302 Mustang like the one Bodie and his crew have put together. Originally debuted at SEMA 2010, this unique Boss has one of only 10 motors built for Mario Andretti’s 1969 Can-Am race car. The 494 cubic inch, 8.0L monster V8 not only packs a lethal punch performance wise, but as you can hear in the video, redefines what exhaust note a heavenly sounding muscle car should make. Seriously, if the looks do not already have you in awe, the sound coming from the perfectly polished exhaust pipes certainly will. The all-aluminum motor is on a strict diet, weighing in at a mere 475 lbs while the car sits on a fully custom ladder chassis. The interior has been outfitted with gauges and other interior styling cues directly from the 2011 Mustang GT.
The cherry on top came when Mario Andretti himself signed the engine block at SEMA, solidifying this car’s place in American muscle car history.
