Recently, a friend of mine put up a link to a driver in Wisconsin with a warning ticket for a vehicle “Visibly out of alignment” and “Fixed part contact road before wheel rim”. While I am no fan of the “Hella-Flush” movement, and am a lesser fan of a police officer taking time out to ticket a vehicle that has “visible” alignment issues, how does this officer know that the alignment is really off simply because he can see the camber? Can he also visibly see the scrub radius? Answer is no. Unless you’re Mike Kojima, you can’t visibly see a bad alignment save for the absolute stupid camber of the worst hellaflush kiddies.

It’s not so much the hella-flush crowd getting tickets that has me worried. It’s the precedent of a modified car being pulled over for a similar issue just because it has wider wheels or slightly stretched tires. It’s the idea of giving revenue to the local constable so he can pull more people over for easy money to help pay for that new tank they need for “SWAT” purposes.

Yes, the hella-flush stance is very foolish, but it’s not worth an officer taking time out of his day to write a ticket for it, even if it is a warning. It’s also not worth the potential harassment of you and your fellow modified car drivers.
