Ford Introduces SYNC AppLink System for 2015 Mustang
Taking the spotlight at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Ford announced that the new Mustang will feature the carmaker’s next-gen SYNC AppLink system with a host of new features that will give drivers easier access to their favorite mobile apps.
“Ford led the industry in diving drivers the ability to control their smartphones apps on the go with the introduction of SYNC AppLink in 2010,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, global product development, in a Ford press release. “We are now making the in-vehicle app experience simpler and more intuitive to further help drivers keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.”
News of the updated infotainment system comes as little surprise considering some of the criticism the previous gen SNYC system has endured for being a bit cumbersome for drivers. Despite its appeal to those who insist on having the latest tech features, the current Ford SNYC system has been in desperate need of an overhaul.
Still, the fact that Ford decided to roll out the new technology in the 2015 Mustang says a lot about the investment the carmaker’s put into the new model beyond the look, which I fully expect to carry over into the overall performance of the car as well.
The new SYNC system to be offered in the 2015 Mustang includes simpler in-vehicle menus and controls, App access to a variety of vehicle data such as speed, and a more efficient voice-activation system.
