2026 Ford Mustang GT Review: Last One Standing, but Still Great

2026 Ford Mustang GT Review

While the 2026 Ford Mustang GT is more complicated and quite a lot more expensive than it used to be, it’s still a great overall package.

While most of its competition has gone the way of the dinosaur lately, the Ford Mustang lives on following a full redesign for the 2024 model year. Trouble is, the S650 pony car is also considerably more expensive than its predecessor, to the point where it has clearly impacted sales of the newest model, with many simply opting to buy a gently used S550 for a fraction of the cost. Regardless, it’s simply good news that the model is still around, in general, and as it turns out, the 2026 Ford Mustang GT is still a darn good car.

Recently, the folks behind the YouTube channel Bros FOURR Speed were able to spend some time behind the wheel of a brand new 2026 Ford Mustang GT, providing us with a thorough review of the newest pony car. This particular coupe is finished in the new color dubbed Adriatic Blue, and has an MSRP of $58,500 – which is quite a lot of money, no doubt. However, it isn’t like V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive American cars grow on trees these days, either.

As for this one, it’s still motivated by the naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8, churning out 480 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, mated to the six-speed manual transmission in this case. In terms of styling, the S650 looks more like an evolution of the S550, adding more modern touches while also retaining its retro style, overall. In this case, the pony car rolls on a set of 19-inch Gunmetal Gray multi-spoke wheels, which are quite nice as well.

The biggest change present in the S650-generation Mustang lies inside the cabin, which in this case is covered in a two-tone combination of Space Gray and black. This model also sports two screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for infotainment purposes, which run pretty fancy graphics. Overall, it’s a nice place to spend time in, with some upgrades in terms of tech and materials over the old S550.

This particular 2026 Ford Mustang GT doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but it’s a nice start for someone that just wants an example with the cushier interior materials, Brembo brakes, and active exhaust. Our host notes that it’s a “good daily driver, but also kind of a fun car to rip around town with.” It’s certainly more refined than models from the past – which could be perceived as a good thing or a bad thing – but it’s just nice to know that we can still buy a brand new Mustang in 2026, which isn’t the case with Chevy fans and the Camaro – nor can Dodge fans get a Charger with a V8 at the moment, either.
