1967 Ford Mustang With 624 HP Proves to Be One Fun Street Machine
Packing a custom Super Cobra Jet V8 and loads of other goodies, this track-focused 1967 Ford Mustang is one seriously unique build.
There’s no denying that the first-generation Ford Mustang debuted to incredible fanfare, the likes of which we rarely see in the automotive world. Turns out, there were plenty of folks that wanted an affordable, fun, and stylish sports car that had room for a couple of kids in the back during the 1960s, and they responded by buying pony cars in massive quantities. Today, the early Mustang remains a fan favorite, but we’re particularly fond of restomod versions of those cars, which combine modern mechanicals with timeless styling. In that realm, this 1967 Ford Mustang is something truly special, too.
The folks at the LivingLifeFast YouTube channel recently purchased this 1967 Ford Mustang restomod, which was built by Dave Powell at Performance Unlimited UK. We certainly wouldn’t change a thing on this UK-sourced pony car, because it’s an impressive build in every regard – starting on the outside, where Raven Black paint covers custom fiberglass bits and pieces including the nose cone, hood, rear bumper, front fenders, and rear quarter panels. The vintage Mustang rolls on a set of a set of 17-inch Minilite center-locking alloy wheels, which are wrapped with Yokohama AV1-35i tires, too.
Inside the cabin of this track-focused 1967 Ford Mustang, one will find a set of Sparco bucket seats with racing harnesses, an FIA-approved roll cage, a Momo quick-release steering wheel, a digital dash, a bevy of toggle switches, and even a plumbed-in fire extinguisher and kill switch. Turns out, that gear could come in handy, because this pony car is powered by a 429 Super Cobra Jet V8 that’s been bored out to displace 433 cubic inches and fitted with a Scat billet crank and rods, forged pistons, FMS aluminum heads, a custom Grower cam, and a Holley 950 cfm carb, which helps it churn out 624 horsepower.
That power flows to the wheels via a Tremec TKO II transmission with a McLeod twin plate clutch and a 3.33-geared Quaife torque sensing differential for truly spirited performance, as one might imagine. To help it turn as good as it goes in a straight line, this 1967 Ford Mustang also features an independent front and rear suspension, Koni adjustable dampers, TCP power rack and pinion steering, and center-mounted rear disc brakes – making for one heck of a unique and cool build that hails from somewhere outside of the U.S., for once.
