As Shelby American celebrates its 60th anniversary, it’s also building the Hertz Shelby GT500-H and Shelby GT-H.

Hertz and Ford have long enjoyed a fruitful relationship that has led to a number of high-performance rental car offerings, but none as as famous as the original Rent-a-Racer, the Mustang Shelby GT350-H. Over the ensuing years, Hertz has offered additional Shelby GT350-H models for rent, but on the cusp of Shelby American’s 60th anniversary, the two have conjured up something extra special – the new Hertz Shelby GT500-H, which is based on the GT500, but with a healthy injection of power and style.

The heart of the Hertz Shelby GT500-H is Ford’s supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8, which in this case has been treated to an upgraded supercharger and some other unspecified modifications to lift output to over 900 horsepower. That’s truly ridiculous for a rental car, but we certainly aren’t going to complain. We’ll just hope that anyone who rents one of these cars knows how to drive it, or obviously, bad things could happen.

Other than this power infusion, the GT500-H has been treated to a slew of exterior modifications. For starters, just 25 will be built in total, with 19 of those cars finished in Shadow Black and six wearing Oxford White paint to honor Shelby’s anniversary. Other details including gold “Le Mans” dual racing stripes, rocker stripes, Hertz Edition and Shelby 60th anniversary emblems, aluminum forged mono-block wheels, performance spec tires, tinted windows, Shelby GT500-H badges, driver- and passenger-side stripes, a gold supercharger, and a vented, dry carbon fiber hood that’s 30 pounds lighter than stock.

Inside the cabin, the GT500-H features Shelby and Hertz logos on the seats, sill plates, and floor mats, along with a dash badge and engine bay badging with each car’s individual number in terms of production.

Those that want to rent an equally stylish yet not so powerful pony car will also be able to do so with the new Shelby GT-H fastback and convertible, which is based on the Mustang GT. Those models will be available in Rapid Red Metallic, Oxford White, Shadow Black, and Carbonized Gray, with all of the same exterior and interior accruements as the GT500-H, along with 20-inch aluminum wheels, all-weather Michelin tires, a Shelby deep-draw hood, upper grille, fascia winglets, and taillight panel, along with a Borla cat-back exhaust.
