Carroll Shelby Tribute Attracts Huge Crowds, Priceless Machines
From the very first production Cobra to the latest Mustang GT350, Carroll Shelby and his legacy live on in SoCal.
For Mustang and Ford fans in general, fewer names resonate as deeply as that of Carroll Shelby. The man responsible for transforming the Blue Oval into a serious contender in the world of performance passed in 2012, but that doesn’t mean we’ll ever forget. Events like the recent 2019 Carroll Shelby Tribute and Cruise-In, which took place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, are a glowing reminder of just how much of an impact Shelby left on this beloved hobby of ours.
To celebrate Shelby’s birthday, a massive gathering of powerful, striking and rare vehicles bearing his name gathered on the third-floor parking structure of the Petersen for a truly incredible event. Every generation and iteration of Cobra and Mustang was well represented. From the very first production Cobra to the latest Shelby Mustangs.
In total, more than 400 amazing cars showed up to pay tribute to the man responsible for their existence. A crowd of thousands was treated to some of the rarest rides you’ll ever see in one place. Additional events, including a driving competition, panel discussion, and auction preceded the show. Along with a ceremony to honor Carroll Shelby and the huge legacy he left behind.
All-in-all, the Tribute and Cruise-In proved to be a can’t miss event for any Blue Oval fan. After all, where else will you catch all of these incredible rides in one place at one time?
But even if you missed this year’s wickedly-fun event, fear not. The tribute is slated to be an annual event at the Petersen. So head over here to stay tuned for announcements leading up to next year’s Shelby extravaganza.
